What should I bring to class?
A pair of non-marking, clean, indoor shoes, or a pair of socks. While each venue does have tap water available. you may want to bring a water bottle.
Do I need to bring a partner to class?
No partner is necessary! Typically our local west coast swing classes will rotate partners every few minutes, allowing everyone a chance to dance with everyone, even when we have unbalanced numbers between follows and leads.
What kind of shoes should I wear/buy?
When you start learning how to dance, a pair of non-marking, clean, indoor shoes, or a pair of socks, are okay for class.
If you decide to continue learning to dance and would like to invest in a good-quality pair of dance shoes, we HIGHLY recommend wearing suede-bottom shoes. This will make turns and fancy footwork easier and will save your knees from injury! The next choice would be leather-bottom shoes (most often found on character dance shoes) but they have less glide than suede.
Suede-bottom shoes are available in companies across North America:
- Harlequin The Dance Store, 375 Hargrave St, Winnipeg, MB R3B 2K2 (This shop is a great option because it is local so you can try on the shoes before you buy them. Personally I wear the Bloch Annabella sandals! – Natasha)

- Ballroom Connection
